How It Works

How your application is processed

  1. 1TodaySubmit your applicationComplete the form below with your details, directorships and proposer. It takes about ten minutes.
  2. 23–5 business daysVerificationThe SLID Secretariat checks your application and supporting details. You will receive an email once it has been verified.
  3. 3After verificationPaymentWe email you a secure payment link. You may pay by credit or debit card, or by bank transfer.
  4. 429 October 2026Governing Council approvalYour application is tabled at the next meeting of the SLID Governing Council, held on the second Tuesday of every other month. The next meeting is on 29 October 2026. Your membership begins once the Council has approved it. In the event your application is not approved by the Council, the payment will be refunded to the original payment method.

No payment is requested until your application has been verified. Verification confirms your details are in order — it is not itself an approval of membership. Membership begins only once the Governing Council has approved your application, and we will email you at every stage.

About the Board Placement Service
I hereby apply for membership of The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and agree to be bound by its rules and by-laws, from time to time in force. I confirm that all information presented in this Application is true and accurate and that I shall cease to be a member of the Institute in the event that any such information is found to be false. I confirm that I do not have any unspent criminal convictions, that I am not an undischarged bankrupt, that I am not disqualified by court order from being a Director/Senior Manager/Sole Proprietor/Partner and that I know of no reason whatsoever which would disqualify me from holding such post/s. I undertake to conduct myself in a manner, which would be expected of a member of a reputable professional institute. I further undertake not to represent publicly the views of the Institute or to claim its support without the prior written approval of the Management of the Institute.
After submitting, the SLID Secretariat will verify your application and contact you within 3–5 business days with a payment request. Your membership begins once the SLID Governing Council has approved your application.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the application process take? +
Your application is verified by the SLID Secretariat within 3–5 business days, and you will then receive a payment request by email. Once payment is received, your application is placed before the SLID Governing Council, which meets on the second Tuesday of every other month. Your membership begins once the Council has approved it.
Can I pay membership fees in instalments? +
The entrance fee is payable in full at the time of joining. The SLID subscription year runs from 1 April to 31 March, so renewal subscriptions are invoiced to all members on 1 April rather than on each member's own joining date. Please contact members@slid.lk for special circumstances.
What payment methods are accepted? +
At present, payment is made by bank or online transfer. The account details are included in the payment request we email you. Payment by credit or debit card will be available in the coming months.
Can a company hold a corporate membership? +
Yes. Corporate memberships can be arranged for organisations wishing to enrol multiple directors. Contact members@slid.lk to discuss corporate membership packages.
What happens when my membership expires? +
Renewal invoices are issued on 1 April each year. If your subscription is not settled, access to member pricing, forums and member-only content is suspended until it is renewed. Your account and purchase history are retained.
Can I upgrade my membership category? +
Yes. You can upgrade at any time by paying the difference in entrance fees (pro-rated within your current membership year). Contact members@slid.lk to initiate an upgrade.
Are there benefits for retired directors? +
SLID offers a Retired Member category for former directors who have retired from active board service. Contact the membership team for details on eligibility and fees.
Is SLID membership tax deductible? +
Membership fees may be tax deductible as a professional development expense. We recommend consulting your tax advisor to confirm eligibility under Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue regulations. SLID provides official receipts for all payments.
