INED Forum (Independent Non-Executive Director)

The Forum will be an interactive platform for knowledge and experience sharing and learning among INEDs across diverse industries and businesses in both the private and public sectors and will enable them to: 

  • Understand their roles and responsibilities.  
  • Share and learn from each other’s experiences and discuss issues and problems they encounter in discharging their roles in the boardroom. 
  • Learn from and engage with those knowledgeable in relevant fields on new legislation, regulations, and best practice. 
  • Enhance their knowledge and skills on board processes and practices. 

Women Directors Forum (WDF)

The primary objectives of the Forum are to: 

  • Accelerate the advancement of women on Boards across all industry sectors. 
  • Enhance women Board Directors’ knowledge and skills on board processes and practices and their roles and responsibilities to enhance their effectiveness as members of Boards. 
  • Help women Board Directors learn from and engage with experts in the fields of governance, regulatory, fiscal, new management philosophies, Information Technology, and other domain-related knowledge relevant to organizational best practice.   
  • Support women Board Directors to share and learn from each other’s experiences as well as discuss issues and problems they encounter in discharging their roles in the boardroom. 
  • Help build a strong female leadership talent pipeline. 

Board Secretaries Forum (BSF)

The primary objective of the Forum is to provide a platform for Board Secretaries of companies in the private and public sectors to interact with one another, share experiences, and learn and build the key competencies required to perform their roles effectively. The Forum aims to help participants: 

  • Understand their role and responsibilities including the essential practices required for good governance and its application both within and outside the Boardroom. 
  • Sharpen their skills in Boardroom dynamics and Board processes drawing from ‘best in class’ Board practices and shared experiences. 
  • Develop leadership attributes beyond the traditional realm of company secretarial practice to fit the purposes of future-ready Boards. 

The forum is a joint venture between SLID and The Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka (ICCSSL)

Audit Committee Forum (ACF)

The objective of the ACF is to provide valuable information to assist members to be effective in their role on audit committees through sharing knowledge with their peers, disseminating relevant information, and focusing on key performance areas, thereby contributing to the effective governance and sustainability of their organizations and enhancing the economic environment.

Young Directors Forum (YDF)

Grooming tomorrow’s board leaders – The primary objective of the YDF is to provide a forum that facilitates the development of Young Directors and ensures that tomorrow’s leaders are represented and supported. 

Chairpersons Forum

The primary objective of the Forum is to provide a platform for Chairpersons of companies in the private and public sectors to interact with one another, share experiences, and learn and build the key competencies required to perform their roles effectively.  

The Forum aims to help participants: 

  • Understand their role and responsibilities including the essential practices required for good governance and its application both within and outside the Boardroom. 
  • Sharpen their skills in Boardroom dynamics and Board processes drawing from ‘best in class’ Board practices and shared experiences.
  • Develop leadership skills and attributes in order to fit the purposes of future-ready Boards. 

CEO Forum

The primary objective of the Forum is to provide a platform for CEOs of companies in the private and public sectors to interact with one another, share experiences, and learn and build the key competencies required to perform their roles effectively.  

The Forum aims to help participants: 

  • Understand their role and responsibilities including the essential practices required for good governance and its application both within and outside the Boardroom. 
  • Sharpen their skills in Boardroom dynamics and Board processes drawing from ‘best in class’ Board practices and shared experiences. 
  • Develop leadership attributes beyond the traditional realm of managerial leadership in order to fit the purposes of future-ready Boards. 

Family Business Forum

The Family Business Forum is an initiative of The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and shall function under the aegis of the Institute.

The key objective of the forum is to be a catalyst by;

  • Sharing knowledge in the best practices of corporate and family governance in Family companies.
  • Addressing the business-owning families’ generational transformation, leadership succession, and stewardship for the next generation.
  • Creating networking opportunities for ideas sharing amongst the family business community
  • Providing a reliable & attractive platform for sharing & learning
